Modular Triptych Table Sculpture in Ceramic and Wood

€700.00

By P.A. Crespi — Italy, 1964

This unusual and playful modular sculpture was created by Italian artist P.A. Crespi in 1964. The work consists of three independent ceramic compositions set within black-painted wooden frames, allowing the elements to be freely arranged on a table or console according to the desired configuration.

Each module measures approximately 8 cm in depth and can stand independently. The three elements may be displayed individually across a surface or arranged together to form a sculptural triptych.

One module features two opposing ceramic forms positioned at the top and bottom of the frame whose shapes evoke flowing or dripping liquid. The two elements face one another within the rectangular structure, creating a dynamic visual tension. One is finished in white enamel and the other in reflective silver enamel.

The remaining two modules each contain a sculptural ceramic form reminiscent of an animal horn. The forms extend outward from their frames and reveal hollow interiors that can function as small bud vases if desired. One horn is finished in luminous white enamel, the other in mirror-like silver enamel.

The work reflects the experimental spirit of mid-century Italian design, where sculpture, object, and function often intersected. The piece is signed and dated 1964.

Condition

The sculpture remains in good vintage condition with minor signs of age consistent with its period.

Ideal Placement

Because the modules can be arranged in multiple ways, the piece works beautifully as a tabletop sculpture on a console, desk, bookshelf, or coffee table where its sculptural forms can be explored and rearranged.
