1970s Brass Ottoman with Hand-Embroidered Leather Seat

€900.00

Vintage Structure with KalaRara Artistic Intervention

This distinctive octagonal ottoman originates from the 1970s and has been reinterpreted by the artists of KalaRara Roma, transforming a vintage brass piece into a singular decorative object.

The original base, executed in brass with a clean geometric form typical of 1970s design, provides a strong architectural foundation. Above it sits a newly upholstered seat cushion in deep purple leather, introducing a rich color contrast to the warm metallic base.

The leather seat has been hand embroidered and hand painted with an image inspired by the tattoo drawings of Norman 'Sailor Jerry' Collins. The composition depicts a burlesque performer astride a peacock, whose tail feathers spread across the surface of the seat, creating a vivid decorative tableau that blends vintage furniture with graphic artistry.

Because the embroidery and painting are executed entirely by hand, the ottoman is a one-of-a-kind piece, combining mid-century design with contemporary artistic craftsmanship.

Condition

The vintage brass base remains structurally sound. The seat has been newly upholstered in purple leather and embellished with hand-painted and hand-embroidered decoration in the KalaRara Roma studio.

Ideal Placement

Compact and visually striking, the piece functions beautifully as an accent ottoman, a small statement seat in a dressing room or boutique environment, or as a decorative element within eclectic interiors.
