PLAYING KOI — One-of-a-Kind Coffee Table in Plexiglass, Murano Glass and Tempered Glass

€5,200.00

A meditation on water, light, and movement

“Playing Koi” is a one-of-a-kind coffee table handcrafted in the KalaRara Roma atelier in Rome. Conceived as a quiet meditation on the fluid and ephemeral nature of water, the piece merges painting, glasswork, and architectural structure into a functional sculptural object.

At the heart of the composition lies an aluminium panel finished in luminous silver leaf, upon which two koi fish are meticulously hand-painted. Surrounding the figures, layers of glass rods, crushed glass crystals, glass fragments, and sea glass form a dynamic aquatic landscape, suggesting the movement of water and shifting reflections of light beneath its surface.

The surface is created using MicroCristallo Fusione, a layered glass fusion process developed within the KalaRara Roma studio. Carefully arranged glass elements are encapsulated within ultra-clear resin, creating depth, luminosity, and the illusion of suspended motion within the composition.

The finished panel is housed within a handcrafted plexiglass case and protected by an inset scratch-resistant tempered glass top. The structure rests upon a plexiglass cube secured with precision plexiglass dowels, reinforcing the transparency of the form and allowing the internal composition to appear as if floating within the table.

Entirely handmade in Rome, “Playing Koi” exists simultaneously as collectible object and functional coffee table. The piece is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity confirming its one-of-a-kind status and studio production.
