“NIGHT SKY #1” is a one-of-a-kind circular wall mirror handcrafted in Rome using KalaRara’s MicroCristallo Fusione™ technique. The piece explores contrast — density and luminosity, darkness and refracted color.
The 90 cm diameter frame is constructed on a base of reclaimed beechwood and built through the meticulous hand placement of thousands of Murano glass crystals. These are interspersed with fragments of shattered safety glass and permanently secured in a custom ultra-clear resin matrix.
The surface is predominantly deep, lustrous black — not flat, but dimensional — punctuated by subtle constellations of red, orange, green, and blue. The color is embedded within the glass structure rather than applied superficially, allowing light to shift across the surface depending on angle and proximity.
At its center sits a 50 cm bronzed round mirror, intentionally offset to the right. This asymmetry activates the composition, preventing static balance and reinforcing the piece as object rather than simple mirror.
The result is both functional and sculptural — a reflective plane set within a field of mineral depth.
