"INTERLACED" — Two-Piece Wall Art in MicroCristallo Fusione™
Color as Structure, Connection as Form
“INTERLACED” is a one-of-a-kind two-panel wall artwork handcrafted in Rome using KalaRara’s proprietary MicroCristallo Fusione™ technique. The work explores rhythm, adjacency, and visual tension through interlocking fields of saturated color.
Composed on a foundation of reclaimed beechwood and biodegradable jute, each panel becomes a structural plane upon which mineral glass elements are individually placed and fused by hand. The resulting surface possesses depth, luminosity, and a subtle architectural relief.
The palette — Prussian blue, aquamarine, emerald, cobalt, orange, and amethyst — is layered in deliberate blocks that intersect and overlap. Rather than blending, the colors maintain their integrity, forming a composition defined by proximity and contrast.
The two panels function as a dialogue. Hung slightly apart, a narrow interval of wall becomes an active element within the work. The spacing — up to 10 centimeters — allows for curatorial flexibility, enabling the piece to respond to its architectural context.
INTERLACED is not merely decorative. It is a study in structure, fragmentation, and cohesion — rendered in glass, pigment, and light.
