One-of-a-Kind Sculptural Wall Mirror
A dialogue between traditional pattern language and contemporary glass craftsmanship.
“Bògòlanfini” is a one-of-a-kind sculptural wall mirror handcrafted in the KalaRara Roma atelier in Rome. The work draws inspiration from the graphic language of traditional Malian mud cloth while translating these motifs into a contemporary architectural composition.
The circular frame is constructed on a reclaimed beech wood panel and finished with MicroCristallo Fusione — a layered glass technique developed within the KalaRara Roma studio. Finely macerated Murano glass crystals are embedded within the surface, creating a textured field of deep black that captures and refracts light.
Geometric bands rendered in warm tones of sand, topaz, and dark umber move across the circular surface, forming a structural grid that echoes traditional Bògòlanfini pattern systems. At the center of the composition, a smoked glass mirror is deliberately offset within the frame, introducing asymmetry and spatial tension.
This displacement transforms the mirror from a purely functional object into an architectural element within the composition.
Entirely handmade in Rome, “Bògòlanfini” functions both as a sculptural wall piece and a functional mirror. The work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity confirming its one-of-a-kind status and studio production.
